Road Rehabilitation

Sacramento County will receive $10.5 million for road rehabilitation projects. Seventeen (17) streets will receive pavement repair with this funding. Roadways selected for treatment were prioritized in the Sacramento County 2008 Transportation Improvement and Program Guide and/or the County Pavement Management Program. The surface treatment provided by this project shall extend the service life of selected roadways by approximately 20 years. Selection of these streets for pavement repair is based on numerous factors including but not limited to: available funding, roadway pavement condition, coordination with other projects, current maintenance needs and maintenance history.

This project will include the following types of pavement repair work:

  • Base repair: removal of damaged pavement and replacement with new asphalt concrete.
  • Cold planning: controlled milling of pavement surface.
  • Placement of 2-inch conventional or rubberized overlay.
  • Adjusting manholes to grade.
  • Restriping the roadway.
  • Replacing deteriorated portions of curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

Funding

Total project costs are $10.5 million and will be funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The County’s local share is funded with Measure “A” Sales Tax funds.
